PLELXSYS Interface Products, Inc., a 100% employee owned small business, specializing in modeling and simulation systems and support services for 21st Century Air, Land, and Sea synthetic training, currently has a temporary opening for a UI/UX Design Engineer for a six-month assignment in our Camas, Washington office.


A UI/UX Design Engineer is responsible for shaping the user experience of new products as well as making improvements to existing products. Evaluates products and processes for efficiency, consistency  and completeness. Provides oversight to the work of other engineers performing user interface and user experience design work. Works with other members of the engineering staff to ensure that production is completed in a timely manner. Relies on guidance and judgment to plan and accomplish product goals. This position reports directly to a Product Manager.


  • Shape and refine product visual design and consistency
  • Integrate internal and external product design into a cohesive user experience
  • Evaluate design elements contained in a system specification for assigned software development efforts
  • Maintain and evolve software design documentation based on evolving system needs
  • Serve as design lead on assigned software development efforts
  • Assist development team with the creation of detailed feature level design documents  
  • Participate in the system requirements specification review process to ensure system requirements can be translated into valid software design 
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Bachelors or Master’s degree in Graphic Design, Information Technology, Computer Science or related field
  • Must have 5+ years of experience in software design
  • Mastery of user interface design skills
  • Must be organized, have an eye for detail, and be able to put ideas into a tangible form
  • Ability to prioritize and manage work to critical project timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to develop new approaches to complex design problems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and concepts quickly
  • Demonstrated critical thinking 
  • Operational Military experience is desired
  • Software Development experience is desired
  • US citizenship required
  • Security Clearance:  Ability to obtain a US Secret security clearance is desired
